Far more than a domestic tool, the traditional broom is a protective instrument that sweeps away negativity to invite harmony. Developed during my residency in Veliko Tarnovo, this project reimagines the broom as a living character within the city's landscape.
Adorned with delicate glass pearls, the broom bears two words split across its sides: Nema and Para—an archaic dialect expression conveying a beauty beyond measure, a matchlessness without price.
Interacting with the unique cityscape of Veliko Tarnovo, the broom becomes an active protagonist in a visual journey. Staged in contrasting environments—ranging from iconic historic sights and public markets to intimate personal homes and institutional museum spaces—the work reflects on how domestic magic, aesthetic devotion, and local heritage intersect within this quiet guardian, an object whose presence in any space is universally accepted as a sign of care and renewal.
